I am an admitted Advocate, Negotiator, Mediator, and Arbitrator with 28 years of experience in the legal field. My experience spans in Mining Law, Environmental Law, Company Law, Construction Law (Adjudication/Mediation/Arbitration), Commercial Law (Mediation /Arbitration), International Commercial Law (Mediation / Arbitration), and Labour Law .
With a passion for the law and eagerness to explore avenues outside of litigation, I completed the fellowship of Arbitrations Qualification an internationally accredited joint course offered by the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) and the University of Pretoria (UP). I am currently busy completing the Negotiation and Conflict Management Course through UCT.
I have vast knowledge of all FIDIC Contracts, JBCC, GCC and NEC which apply to both the mining and building industry.
As a former director at 2 companies that hold mining permits, I was involved in compliance with MPRDA, NEMA, EMP,EIA, and all other regulatory requirements. I also dealt with Appeals in terms of both the MPRDA and NEMA.
For the last 8 years, I have been actively involved in mining-related activities on front-to-end greenfield projects.
I see myself as an inspirational leader by example that encourages unique viewpoints and opinions in the pursuit for the best client solutions.
As a subject-matter-expert to clients in the mining and construction industries, I have also developed a broad spectrum of business skills and expertise including company law, mining rights under the MPRDA, and more specifically company operations.
I focus on analytics, risk management, and the mitigation of disputes, instilling a culture of ownership and trust in organisations and client relationships.
