Engineering Manager
Available for exploratory interviews.
Ref: EP23539598
Achievements:
*Design of a single-rotor helicopter rotor-head hub of a helicopter through classical engineering techniques and numerical analysis to use
novel elastomeric damping, infinite life on metallic components and vastly reduced maintenance costs and quicker turn-around times,
while offering superior performance in adverse weather conditions.
*Development of a Multi Body Dynamics model of a complete helicopter, including a turbine powerplant, to rapidly extract component
design, limit and ultimate loads for design and accelerating certification.
*Development of fixed wing UAV's and their control systems, including software, hardware and navigation systems, from first principles
*Development of an integrated tool for measuring the condition of a paragliding, to determine its airworthiness through laser
measurements and automated feedback into a computer
*Grow and develop the production line of an aircraft manufacturing business from about five aircraft delivered per month to about 18
aircraft per month, growing the staff contingent from 150 to over 500 employees, expanding the business footprint three-fold, increasing
the turnover from about R140mil to over R400mil per annum, and quadrupling profits.
* Optimising production lines and production flow in a very disparate environment, set up complex production monitoring and progress
reporting systems, creating an oversight dashboard that is used by the executive to see the instantaneous status of work in progress,
helping in identifying weaknesses and bottlenecks in production and motivating expenditure to increase productivity and turnover

Born and raised South African, has always held his European heritage in high regard. Having grown up with Dutch and Afrikaans spoken at home and English in most other places, 100% trilingual. From the early age of seven, he began constructing aircraft on the dining room table. He built and flew many radio-controlled aircraft throughout his formative years. His love of flight and all things that fly led him to falconry and he has nurtured and reared many fledglings. His love of flight led him to learn to fly a variety of different craft, starting with sailplanes. He is currently a paragliding instructor at a leading school in Gauteng and mentors low-airtime pilots in the basic principles of flight, air law and human performance in flight. He also instructs on microlights and holds a PPL. Always flight-centric, he is never far from his favorite environment, the sky! Man’s oldest dream fuels his passion for design and engineering, always pushing boundaries for better, easier, cost effective solutions. This has led to the development of a number of tools and skillsets to operate them, merging science, engineering and manufacturing to produce unique solutions for unique problems. In his work, his aerial pursuits, and his studies, he has proven to be a team player with exceptional leadership skills.
